IMPORTANT SECTIONS OF A RESUME

  • Objective
    Summarize the type of position for which you are looking.
  • Education, Honors and Certification
    List your undergraduate and graduate (if applicable) degrees, as well as any honors received. Also list the licenses and state certification that you hold.
  • Key Qualifications (optional - but recommended)
    Highlight unique strengths, skills and areas of knowledge relevant to the position that you seek.
  • Teaching Experience
    Detail your previous teaching experience along with key accomplishments.
  • Additional Relevant Experience
    Provide information on relevant non-teaching positions that you have held, if applicable.
  • Professional Affiliations
    List any relevant organizations of which you are a member or with which you are affiliated.

BEFORE YOU SUBMIT

  • Proofread for typos, grammatical errors and punctuation.
  • Check for consistency in the formatting of dates, punctuation and text.
  • Double-check your contact information for accuracy.
  • Click "Print Preview" to see what your resume will look like once it is printed.
  • Click "Save As" to save your resume where you can find it again (example: My Documents folder) and to rename it (example: FirstName.LastName.Resume.doc).
  • Close the file before you upload it to the application.
